performance by the Royal ballet of Flanders. Consisting of:

  • Pina Bausch - Cafe Muller (1978)
  • Martha Graham - Chronicle (1936)
  • Annabelle Lopez Ochoa - Ecdysis (2017)

Café Müller - Pina Bausch Café Müller is an absolute highlight in recent dance history by one of the most iconic choreographers of all time. Pina Bausch created Café Müller in 1978 and toured this piece around the world with enormous success. Now for the first time a dance company other than Tanztheater Wuppertal will perform the work.

Chronicle - Martha Graham Chronicle (1936) is a moving response to the rise of fascism and the Spanish Civil War. The work is also inspired by the pessimism of Graham’s era, fuelled by the Great Depression in 1930s America. Graham shows the isolation of a figure whose entire will to live appears to have been crushed, yet never abandons hope.

Ecdysis - Annabelle Lopez Ochoa The isolation of a yearning individual is also the theme in the new creation by the Belgian-Colombian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. She searches for the identity of war refugees and investigates how, from their position on the borderlands, they can confront a new future.
